You’ve got the basics down.
But now you’re stuck.
You know how to play. You’ve won a few matches. Still, something’s missing.
That buzz of real competition. That feeling of being part of something bigger than your local game night.
That’s why I’m here.
Undergrowthgameline Our Hosted Event isn’t just another tournament. It’s the one place where skill meets community. No gatekeeping, no guesswork.
I’ve been in the trenches at every event so far. Watched players win, lose, adapt, and level up. Learned what actually works (and) what the rulebook won’t tell you.
This guide covers it all. Rules. Format.
Plan. Even how to read the room when things get tense.
No fluff. No theory. Just what you need to show up ready.
What Is the Undergrowth Game Line?
The Undergrowthgameline is not a faction. It’s not just cards or models. It’s a full space built around asymmetrical pressure (swarm,) hide, strike, vanish.
I’ve played every version since v1.2. And yes, it’s still the only line where you can lose a unit and gain an advantage from it. (That’s how weird it gets.)
It’s nature that bites back. Not gentle forest sprites. Think thorned roots snapping ankles, fungal spores clouding sight, moss swallowing sound.
Three units define it:
- Spore Warden: Controls board state by forcing movement penalties. You either move into danger or stall. Both help me. – Thorn Stalker: Enters play hidden.
Hits once. Disappears. Then reappears somewhere else next turn.
Annoying? Yes. Fair?
Also yes.
That’s why we picked it for Undergrowthgameline Our Hosted Event. Its win conditions don’t rely on dice spikes or card draw luck. They reward timing, prediction, and patience.
New players start with the Rootbound Starter Set. It has two full decks, six miniatures, and zero filler. Skip the deluxe boxes.
They’re overpriced and underused.
You’ll find everything you need on the Undergrowthgameline page. No gatekeeping. No “must-have” side expansions.
Just show up with the starter. Learn one unit at a time. Play three rounds.
You’ll get it.
Or you won’t. That’s fine too.
Some games take longer to click.
This one clicks faster than most.
The Organized Gathering: Format, Rules, and What to Bring
This isn’t a casual game night. It’s structured. It’s timed.
It’s fair.
We run Swiss-style over four rounds. No early eliminations. Everyone plays all four matches.
Each match lasts 90 minutes. Clock starts when terrain is set. No extensions.
If time runs out, we go to tiebreakers. Objective points first, then combat resolution.
You build your army to 1,000 points. No exceptions. Not 1,001.
Not 999.
Undergrowth units have one restriction: you can field only one Hero model per list. That’s it. No workarounds.
No “but my second hero is just a scout” arguments.
No faction-specific buffs or nerfs for Undergrowth here. What’s in the book is what you get.
Bring your models. All of them. Painted or not.
Doesn’t matter. But they must be fully assembled and identifiable.
Bring dice. At least two full sets. One for attacks, one for saves.
Don’t show up with three d6 and hope.
Bring a tape measure or ruler. Not a phone app. Not your buddy’s bent caliper.
A real 12-inch ruler. We check range on contested moves.
Bring the current rulebook. Not the PDF you skimmed last month. The physical copy (or) a tablet with the official app open and ready.
Water bottle? Yes. Snacks?
Yes. Playmat? Strongly recommended.
Carrying case? Non-negotiable if you’re hauling more than six models.
I’ve watched people lose matches because their dice rolled under the table and they didn’t bring spares. (True story. Happened at the Portland store last May.)
I go into much more detail on this in Undergrowthgameline online event.
You’ll need a pen and paper for scoring. We don’t provide scorecards.
This is the Undergrowthgameline Our Hosted Event. Not a test drive. Not a practice run.
It’s the real thing.
Show up prepared or show up stressed. Your call.
No one wins by improvising mid-game.
Bring glue. Just in case. (Pro tip: superglue dries faster than epoxy, but epoxy holds better on resin.)
First Gathering: Skip the Panic, Win the Match

I walked into my first Undergrowthgameline event thinking I knew what I was doing.
I did not.
Start with Mossback Sentinel and Sporecaller. Not the flashier units. Not the ones everyone talks about.
But this pair locks down lanes like nothing else.
You drop Mossback first (it’s) slow, yes, but it forces your opponent to commit early. Then Sporecaller hits right behind it on turn two. That’s when the poison fog spreads.
Not just damage. It slows. It blinds.
It makes your opponent miss timing windows they didn’t even know they had.
You’re not trying to win fast. You’re trying to make their best plan feel wrong.
What will you face? Two things: Ironclad Vanguard rushes and Sunweaver burst combos.
Vanguards love to slam in on turn one and snowball. Don’t trade. Don’t panic.
Let them overextend. Then hit them with a timed Thorn Lash from Mossback after they’ve spent their action economy. One misstep and their whole board stalls.
Sunweavers rely on stacking light tokens. So deny them space. Use Sporecaller’s fog to block line of sight before they get three tokens up.
It’s not flashy. It’s effective.
Practice this at home: Set a 90-second timer. Roll out Mossback, then Sporecaller, then trigger fog. All before time runs out.
Do it ten times. You’ll learn how much breathing room the Undergrowth line actually gives you.
The rhythm matters more than the stats.
This isn’t about memorizing every card. It’s about knowing when to hold back and when to squeeze.
Undergrowthgameline Online Event is where most people figure that out. Usually after losing twice.
I lost four times. Then I slowed down. Then I won.
Undergrowthgameline Our Hosted Event is not a test. It’s a conversation. And your first move should be listening (not) shouting.
More Than a Tournament: It’s a Gathering
This isn’t just another tournament. It’s a Gathering.
I’ve been to events where players glare across the table like it’s a courtroom. Not here. You’ll hear laughter between turns.
Someone will ask how your paint job turned out. Another will offer a quick rules tip. No condescension, no jargon.
It’s friendly. It’s casual. And yeah, competitive when it counts (but) never at the cost of respect.
You’ll meet people who’ve played since the first rulebook dropped. You’ll see armies that look like museum pieces. You’ll overhear plan talks that make your brain itch in the best way.
Sportsmanship isn’t posted on a sign. It’s baked in. New players get space.
Veterans share dice without being asked. Nobody mocks a misroll.
Side events? Yes. Painting comps with real prizes.
Tabletop challenges that don’t count toward rankings (but) do count for bragging rights.
Prize support is real. Not just participation ribbons. Actual things you’d want to keep.
The vibe? Like showing up to a friend’s garage sale and finding out they’re also hosting a block party.
If you’re wondering whether this fits you. It does. Even if you’ve never painted a single model.
Check out the this article to see how it all comes together.
